On Sunday, 13th April, while the majority of us were basking in the long awaited sunshine, our Eikon hero Nigel Straker earned a gold medal after completing a gruelling 26 miles in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2014.
Nigel did a fantastic job, completing the marathon in 4 hours 24 minutes. This is a remarkable achievement for Nigel, who was not a runner before he took on this marathon challenge. Nigel trained hard throughout the winter, running through floods, gales and even hail storms!
We are incredibly proud of his accomplishment and are immensely grateful for his fundraising efforts which raised an amazing £1,921 for our charity.
Every penny raised will be used to help vulnerable young people in Surrey. This sponsorship will help us provide one-to-one mentoring services, support through our Mobile Outreach Programmes and community fellowship in our Youth Centres.
Nigel’s passion for helping Eikon is immensely appreciated and we hope that his achievement will inspire others to consider taking part in a future challenge event.

THANK YOU, NIGEL!
