On Thursday, April 24th, 2014, The Eikon Charity held its first ever Awards Evening at the Sony offices at Brooklands. The theme for the evening was “A Moment in Time” and the evening itself proved to be a momentous occasion for all in attendance.
Over 200 guests were on hand to witness 26 young people receive awards for their courage in dealing with varying degrees of difficulties in their lives. Their stories, combined with their resilience and determination, were an inspiration to all. By the end of the evening there was not a dry eye in the house.
The evening underlined the importance of what we do and for whom we do it. The need for our services is huge and growing. Early intervention is key and is what we at Eikon are all about.
We are extremely grateful to our hosts, Sony, for providing their time, help and support in organising the evening and for providing such a beautiful venue for the event. Also, their donation of a fantastic set of headphones to all award winners was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated.
We would also like to thank the following for their invaluable contributions towards the event through sponsoring awards, presenting awards, providing hospitality and selflessly donating their time to make the evening possible:
- Alliotts Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors
- Charlton House Catering
- Eggerdon & Holland Chartered Surveyors
- Fukuda Denshi Healthcare Equipment Specialists
- Give it Away Limited
- Peachy Productions
- Waterfalls Residential Sales & Letting
- Craig Longhurst Award Winning Magician
And finally, a huge thank you to two members of our internal team for their time and effort. Thank you to Kris Mason, one of our longest serving volunteers, for organising the event from start to finish with such meticulous attention to detail. Thank you also to Jessica Maybanks, our Fundraising & Development Manger, for her leadership and vision throughout which underpinned the success of the evening, providing a “Moment in Time” for all to remember.
For more information on the evening or to discuss how you could become involved in a future Awards Evening or other major charity event, please contact Jessica Maybanks.
