Schools

Schools work is core to Eikon’s support of young people and each of our relational youth workers are actually based in schools.  This enables Eikon to provide a holistic service for each individual young person, as it enables partnership-working with teachers and other school staff.  It also means that students can easily access Eikon’s services when the need is most urgent, and our open-door policy means that appointments can be booked without a lengthy waiting list.

As a trusted adult but non-school staff our workers have a unique position within schools and they are able to develop positive and productive relationship of support with young people.

Their role within school is provide pastoral support, mentoring and practical help for students. The outworking of this will vary with the need and make up of each individual school. It can include:

  • One2one appointments
  • Ongoing Mentoring
  • Group works on a variety of relevant topics
  • Support groups including those affected by caring for family members, divorce or bereavement
  • Personal Development Residentials
  • Outings and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
  • School clubs
  • Assemblies
