The Eikon Charity is a leading Surrey charity supporting children and young people to overcome difficulties, manage their wellbeing and become resilient, enabling them to develop into confident adults who contribute positively to their communities.

Description

We work with young people directly in schools and communities across Surrey and beyond, one-to-one, in groups and clubs – and with and through partners, supporting them to deliver services that improve young people’s physical and emotional wellbeing and mental health. We work in partnership with schools, communities, health & social care, and other organisations, because we believe that working together works.

 

We are looking for volunteers to join our Schools’ Team and support our young people in our clubs, during term time.

 

Lunch and After School Clubs:

Our Youth Specialists deliver wellbeing activities in schools which include Wellbeing Ambassador training and activities, lunch and after school clubs. These comprise of a range of fun activities, games and topic led discussions in a safe environment. We are currently seeking volunteers to help support delivery of the following clubs:

Wellbeing Lunch Club:

A lunch club delivered at Fullbrook School for students, which includes fun activities and topic discussions.

Wellbeing in Nature Lunch and After School Clubs:

Lunch and After School Clubs delivered at Fullbrook School and Kings College, Guildford which include wellbeing in nature activities including gardening, mindfulness and connecting with others through the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.

 

Role:

  • Listening to and supporting young people, showing empathy and understanding, remaining non-judgmental and caring
  • Engaging with young people to motivate, inspire and encourage potential
  • Supporting the Youth Specialist with planning and delivering activities
  • Take part in regular one to one and team meetings (following Government Covid-19 guidelines, where appropriate)
  • Keep accurate records
  • Assist with regularly monitoring and reviewing the content created
  • To establish appropriate professional boundaries in the online relationships with young people
  • To work within Eikon’s internal policies, safeguarding and data protection regulations
  • At least 3 hours per week time commitment, in schools

 

Person Specification

We are looking for applicants that have a real passion to support young people who are full of enthusiasm and fun and have a welcoming approach and personality.
