Your donations help us support children like Thomas.
Eikon supported Thomas, a young, autistic person, who was very anxious and found it difficult to come to his first session. The family shared that Thomas was isolated and lonely and that there was no local provision for him to belong to.
Through slowly building a trusting relationship which started by meeting the Thomas, where he was, Eikon supported him individually, to share his thoughts and feelings and develop self-help strategies. The practitioner then worked together with another Eikon service to support Thomas to engage in a group programme.
Throughout the group work, Thomas’s confidence soared and at the end of his support, he not only felt acceptance of his own needs but also developed friendships and a lasting sense of belonging.
