The coronavirus crisis has left disadvantaged children feeling lonely, anxious and afraid. Please help them.

Isolated, scared and deeply anxious about the future

Before the pandemic, 1 in 8 children had a diagnosable mental health disorder – roughly 3 children in every classroom.  Now, things are going from bad to worse.

The Covid-19 pandemic and financial crisis have left many young people feeling lonely, anxious and afraid.

Many who were already struggling at school are falling further behind and are extremely worried about exams.

Families have lost relatives.  Parents have lost jobs.  Some children are going hungry and face the prospect of losing their homes.

Even before the Covid-19 crisis hit, less than 1 in 3 children with a diagnosable mental health disorder got access to NHS care.  Now the number of children needing support is rising and rates of suicidal thoughts have increased.

There is a very real and urgent need for us to increase our capacity to support these children, but we need your help.  Please will you donate so that we can be there for them?

Children are waiting far too long to access urgent support.  While they wait, their wellbeing deteriorates.

Throughout the pandemic, Eikon has been there for at-risk young people.  Running youth work sessions in schools, supporting the most vulnerable face-to-face – and in digital youth clubs.  We have given them a space where they feel safe, supported and valued.

Eikon has needed to adapt to the crisis and we have, but with more children needing us we cannot stop there.  We need to give young people hope for their futures and tools to help them become resilient.  With your support, we can do this.  Will you help us?

Despite repeated lockdowns, we are working with young people in schools, helping teachers with mental health and wellbeing resources and running virtual sessions led by youth workers.

Please give today so an at-risk young person can get the vital help, support and tools they need to navigate life.  For some young people we work with, an Eikon youth worker could be the only trusted adult they have access to.

Thank you.

I can’t thank Eikon enough for everything they’ve done. For every course, every 1-to-1 session, every time they’ve spoken to me when they didn’t have to. Without them, I really don’t think I would be where I am or who I am. I honestly don’t think I would even be here today if it wasn’t for Eikon.”
