Celebrating a Major Milestone in Partnership Working

This summer, Eikon successfully went live on a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system, becoming part of a pioneering digital transformation programme delivered alongside Surrey Wellbeing Partnership (SWP) partners and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The project is believed to be the first of its kind locally, bringing NHS and voluntary sector services together on a shared recording system. For children and young people, this means more joined-up support and a smoother experience when accessing help.

Putting Young People at the Centre

When a young person is receiving support from different services, it can be frustrating and overwhelming to repeat the same information over and over again. By sharing appropriate information securely, professionals can better understand the support already in place around a young person. This helps them work together more effectively, avoid unnecessary duplication and connect young people with the right help more quickly. Most importantly, it means conversations can focus sooner on what a young person needs now, rather than asking them to retell their story multiple times.

For our practitioners, the new system provides a clearer picture of the support network surrounding each young person. Having access to relevant information from across the partnership supports more informed decision-making and strengthens collaborative working. The move also brings greater consistency to the way we record our work. By using a shared clinical system, records are becoming more accessible, cohesive and aligned across partner organisations.

Innovation Through Partnership

Implementing an NHS clinical system within a charity setting has required significant planning, collaboration and change. Over many months, our colleagues across Eikon worked closely with NHS and voluntary sector partners to develop new processes, establish secure access arrangements, strengthen information governance, train staff and adapt the system to meet the needs of community-based services. The achievement reflects the dedication of teams across multiple organisations working towards a shared goal: improving the experience and outcomes of children and young people.
