Paul’s Camino Journey: Walking 800km to Support Young People in Surrey

At Eikon, we are continually inspired by the dedication of our supporters—and Paul’s incredible journey along the Camino Francés is no exception.
Taking on a remarkable 35-day walking challenge, Paul set out to raise vital funds to support children and young people across Surrey. Beginning in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, he embarked on an 800km pilgrimage across northern Spain—an endurance test of resilience, determination, and spirit.

Reflecting on the experience, Paul shared:

“On 2nd May, I left London full of apprehension as I travelled, via Paris and Bayonne, to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to begin a 36-day walk across northern Spain along the Camino Francés. Little did I know what an incredible experience lay ahead.
Crossing the Pyrenees into Spain, I journeyed through stunning landscapes, stayed in wonderful places, and met some truly special people along the way. Although I set out alone, I never felt lonely—the Camino has a spirit unlike anything I have experienced before. It wasn’t long before I found myself part of small groups, sharing the journey together.
Some days were long and challenging, but even the toughest moments were rewarding as I passed through the diverse and beautiful regions of northern Spain. All too soon, I found myself walking into the square in front of the cathedral in Santiago—my journey’s end, and a moment that will stay with me forever.”

Over the course of his journey—from 4th May to 6th June—Paul took an extraordinary 1,241,603 steps, each one helping to make a difference for young people facing challenges in our local community.

We are so grateful to Paul for his commitment, courage, and generosity. His journey is a powerful reminder that even the longest paths can lead to meaningful change—one step at a time.

If you feel inspired by Paul’s story, you can support Eikon’s work and help us continue to be there for young people when they need us most.
