Forming a positive relationship with young people
Mentoring is a simple but effective way for an individual to provide support to a young person who may be going through a challenging time or struggling to make important decisions. Volunteer mentors can support young people in the following ways:
- Listen without judgement
- Help to work out what changes a young person wants to make in their lives and discuss ways to achieve these goals
- Encouragement and help to challenge themselves
- Regular support
Eikon mentors come from a range of backgrounds and have all sorts of experience and interests. Every single mentor goes through a process of interview, DBS checks and training before they start mentoring young people.
