Nick De Boer found himself in the USA having to quarantine for two weeks after his university roommate tested positive for Covid-19. He is currently studying at Cornell University, New York, and chose to use his time in quarantine to help young people in Surrey who are struggling.
After finding out he would have to quarantine on his own for two weeks, Nick decided to walk a marathon in his hotel room. After measuring his hotel room with a ruler and setting up a live stream for his marathon he set off. Thanks to his livestream, he was cheered on by friends and family from all over the world. 5,340 lengths and 9 hours later Nick had completed his epic challenge!
We are delighted that Nick was able to complete his quarantine marathon and that he has now been able to leave quarantine. He did not test positive during his stay and is back focusing on his studies.
Nick’s passion for supporting young people going through challenging times saw him raise money for two charities. He chose to raise money for The Eikon Charity and mental health charity local in New York. His great efforts saw him recognised in a regular email update to New York State residents. We are so grateful that Nick decided to raise funds for The Eikon Charity in this unusual way and if you would like to support him you can do so through his Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/nicholas-de-boer
